Foothills Tennis and Swimming Club is a member of the Peninsula Swim Association (PSA), a summer recreational youth swim league. The swim team season runs from May to late July. Swimmers train in practices under the direction of a head coach and several assistant coaches during the swim team season. Team meets begin in the middle of June. There are five dual club meets, a relay meet, and the Championship Meet.
All Foothills Club members who can swim the length of a 25-yard pool can compete in the swim meets.Swimmers compete with other swimmers of the same age and sex. The maximum age for team members is 18 years old. Age group is determined by swimmer’s age on June 1. Each swimmer can swim in three individual events & one relay at a dual meet.In the Relay Meet swimmers can swim in 3 relays, and two individual events & one relay at the Championship Meet.
Foothills coaches are supported by parent volunteers. Parents are vital to the success of Foothills’ swim program. All parents of swim team members are expected to participate at the meets, performing tasks such as timing, recording, judging, dinner service, etc. Being a Foothills’ team parent requires time, commitment, and energy, it is a lot of fun and a great way to get to know other Foothills families!
